Morgan played her first game of the season on 8/27/11. The first game is a big fundraiser for the El Cajon AYSO League (Known as Soccer Fest). Morgan was so excited to play, as you can see in these photos. Morgan's coach this year is Coach Tad ,who happens to be the dad of one of her very best friend Isabelle. It's going to be a great soccer year and look forward to watching Morgan grow into a strong soccer player.

We decided to reward Morgan for doing an amazing job as a flower girl in my friend Chrissie's wedding. Such a fun day!!! Morgan loved being a flower girl. At the rehearsal she was not liking the idea very much, especially walking down the aisle with a boy. Something about having your hair done and putting on a beautiful white flower girl dress, changed her whole attitude the following day. Thank goodness!!! One never knows how their child will behave at an event, espcially at someones wedding (Just a little pressure). But no need to worry she did far better then I could have asked for. I helped throw a bridal shower for my long time friend Chrissie on June 25, 2011. I have know her since my freshman year in high school. She was in my wedding 11 years ago, so it was very exciting to share such a special time in her life. The theme was Happily Ever After. Which was perfect since Chrissie calls him her fiance Prince Charming. I am sooooo happy that she finally found the man of her dreams.

Pancake breakfast for the 4th graders. I didn't get very many photos of Aiden's last day of school to spare him from embarrassment, but I wish I would have taken a few more anyways.

Aiden and his teacher Mrs. Sebela. It has been a huge growth year for Aiden. He can now write 5 paragraph essays, read at a 9th-10th grade reading level, on the honor role all 4 quarters and can fly on an air plane with out mom and dad. Aiden took guitar lessons this year and wrote a report on Henry Ford. Most importantly he has a tender heart and is a great friend. We are so very proud of you Aiden and know how hard you worked this year!

It really does feel like we just started Kindergarten and yet we are now moving on to the 1st grade. Morgan really enjoyed Kindergarten and loved her teacher. She meet many new friends and was in a classroom with 12 girls and 3 boys. The girls were very sweet with each other and always had lost of hugs to give out. Hope that connection stays in the years to come. Morgan joined Girls Scouts in January that meets at her school twice a month. She really looks forward to going. Since I work while the kids in are in school it gives me a chance to see how the girls interact with each other. Art is another activity that keeps Morgan entertained at both school and home. It holds her attention for hours and I am beginning to see that she might be a tactile learner (learning through experiencing/doing things ). We are so proud of you Miss Morgan and loved seeing how much you have grown this year. You are learning to read/write and become stronger in Math through hands on activities provided by your school.

The kids had water day back in June. Parents were asked to blow up water balloons and send them with the kids the following day if you couldn't volunteer to help at the actual event. As you can tell in the photos the kids had to test a few out in the front yard.

Picking Aiden up at the San Diego Airport!

Mrs. Sebela survived the Field Trip.

Aiden picked out this mask at one of the gift shops. His teacher told him that he would have to take it off for the class photo because the principal would approve. I guess he hardly took the thing off once he bought it.

Aiden and his 4th grade class went on a field trip to Sacramento on June 9th & June 10th. They flow out of San Diego at 7:00am. The first stop was a tour of Old Sacramento & Railroad Museum. They then toured and had lunch in Sutter's Fort. At 2:00pm they headed to the State Capitol & grounds followed by a bus ride to Coloma. They had dinner at the Coloma Resort & a history of the Gold Rush. Lights out at 10:30am. Breakfast at 8:00am following gold panning demos & rotations. Lunch back in Coloma and a melodrama at Olde Coloma Theater. 2:30pm bus ride back to Sacramento. BBQ dinner and Flight home at 8:00pm.

Aiden had an amazing trip and is already saving for the Washington DC in 8th grade. Good thing its a few years off because its very expensive to attend. When he landed in San Diego and asked how it went he said, "It was awesome!" "Where are we going now?" Aiden really its 10:00pm are you not the least bit tired??? No way Mom!!! I think I was much more excited to see him then he was us! It really felt like he was gone for over a week. What can I say I missed by sweet boy. It was nice to know that he was in good hands with many chaperons that we have known since Kindergarten. Tom and I where not chosen to attend the field trip, due to limited spaces. Parents where chosen by lottery so that it would be fair. Luckily we got many picture emails and lots of updates on Facebook. It felt like we were right along on the trip because of all the updates and Aiden's big smile on his face.

Are You My Mother?

Each year the Kindergarten class at the kids school hatches baby chicks. Each child is allowed to bring one home for the night and returns the chick the following day. The school feels that its very important for children to have the experience of taking care of something. Most children today grow up in the city and miss out on taking care of a little farm animal. Morgan was very excited and could not wait to bring one home. Aiden was not quite sure what to do with a baby chick when he was in Kindergarten. Click here to look back on when Aiden was in Kindergarten. As you can see by the photos above, Morgan was in heaven playing with her new little friend. It even followed her around the house. The chick was very sweet and would fall asleep as soon as you would hold it in your hands.

We went to Souplantation on Morgan actual birthday! Morgan picked her favorite restaurant because she loves their Mac N Cheese and blue berry muffins. The family came along to celebrate.

The birthday monkey that each child gets to bring home for the night. As you can tell Morgan was very happy to Mr. Monkey join our family for the evening. She loves stuffed animals.

Apparently this is a very popular place to have a birthday party. People camp out there starting at about 2:00am. Tom got to the park around 9:00am and all the tables and shaded areas were already taken. Good thing we brought our own things just in case. It was very windy that day but all the kids had a great time getting wet and eating cupcakes. Happy 6th birthday my sweet angel. We love you so very much. You brighten our lives in so many ways.

Morgan and I attended Daisy Day Camp, just down the street from our house, with her Daisy Troop on 4-30-11. The older Girls Scouts put the whole thing together. They had lots of crafts, snacks and activities to keep the girls very busy. It was a very fun day.

The 4Th Grade Art Auction was on 3/18/11 to help raise money for the 4Th grade field trip to Sacramento in June. All the kids had been working hard for weeks on painting their landscape portraits for this event. We were impressed at how well they all turned out.

Girls Scouts Around The World Day. This was the first Girl Scout event that Morgan attended by in early March. The older girls host a country from around the world and have activities and food to try at each table as you walk around. I have never seen so many Girl Scout in one teeny tiny room in my life. Morgan learned a lot and even tasted some new foods. I would call that a sucessful event.

Ice Skating Lessons

These photos are not great because I had to shoot through glass, but they are still fun to look at. The kids took a session of ice skating lessons back in January & February and loved it. Its amazing how quickly the instructors teach the kids to skate. They started out wobbly and ended the session with confidence/balance in only a few short weeks. So very proud of them both for giving something new a try.

The second book in the Eragon series. Tom and I alternate reading to the kids each night. This is the series that Aiden and Tom are currently reading. I am reading the Guardian of Ga'Hoole Series with Aiden. We enjoy this special time with each of our kids and hope that we have developed a love for reading in each of them. An article of a father daughter bond that hit home for me when thinking about our children growing up and going off to college one day.

We celebrated Aiden birthday on 2-19-11 at an indoor rock climbing place called Solid Rock. It was very fun and the kids seem to have a really great time. I had forgotten that at this age parents drop their kids off. Now mind you at any other party I would not have minded, but when someone elses child is several feet above your head it can be very nerve racking. Luckily some of the parents stayed behind to help with belaying and no one feel of the wall including my own children. Aiden realized that Rock Climbing is a bit harder then it looks.

Morgan decided that it was time to take off the training wheels on her little bike and give riding a bike with 2 wheels a try. In true Morgan fashion she mastered ride a bike in only a few short days back in early January. Just like her brother it was all done on their timing. I never pushed for the training wheels to come off the bike. Another little milestone Miss Morgan has completed. Slow down baby girl don't grow up to fast!

Meet our baby bunny Sweeter. My friend's bunny has babies back in October right around the same time she gave birth to her daughter. One of my co-works said she would take one, but decided against it at the last min. Needless to say my kids fell in love with Sweeter and so did Tom and I. She really is the nicest rabbit and I figure this is far easier than a cat or a dog at this time in our lives. I am sure another animal is coming, but I am hoping to buy some time. We are just gone to many hours in the day to take care of a high maintenance animal right now. So a sweet lil bunny it is.

Morgan and I got to spend the day with my nephew, brother n law and sister back in October at Sea World. Alexander has grown so much and loves to talk about Killer Whales. He kept saying the Killer Whale bit his finger. To cute! Morgan had fun wearing her Leopard custom and Tricker Treating with her cousin. It's always wonderful to spend time with them even if it was only for a couple of weeks. Don't grow up to fast buddy!

We took the kids out to Oma's Diary Farm to pick out pumpkins and explore the farm. They had a great time sliding down the cotton seed hill and going for a hayride around the property. We got to see real live cows and experience all the fun smells that one can get from a dairy farm (Yuck!). I think it's so important to expose our children to as many hands on experiences as we can, even the stinky ones. One cow had even given birth just a few shorts hours before we arrived.

Morgan had a fantastic first year playing soccer. She scored a goal in almost every game and ran her little fanny off. When I asked her if she wanted to play again next year she said "No thanks!" Silly little thing. We shall move on to dance and gymnastics for the up coming months and see what next season brings. It was great fun watching Morgan play out there on the grass field and see her excel at yet another activity.

We went camping in our local mountains in September and picked lots of apples and fished by the lake. Aiden one first place in the fishing derby for his age group. He won a cool tackle box with lots of goodies in it. It was nice to get away even if it was on 40 minutes from the house.

I only got a few photos of Aiden on his first day of 4Th grade. He was giving me that look of come on Mom really?? Did you have to bring your camera??? Sorry buddy I have to capture as many moment as I can get. At parent orientation one of the moms came up to me and said, "You know Aiden is the talk of many girls in his class." I told her, "He would be a good catch, but not any time soon." We both laughed and in that second I realized how quickly the day will come when Aiden begins to notice that special girl.

Preschool buddy!

My baby girl started Kindergarten Sept. 7Th. This day was full of many emotions. Happy Morgan was excited to start school, sad my baby is growing up so fast. Not sure if its a second born thing or what? This time around it's much harder to let go. The first child brings excitement because every stage is new and different, but then you learn how quickly they grow up. How you do everything in your power not to rush each stage when the second one comes along. You take in each moment and hope down deep that they stay little for just a little bit longer. While Mommy is experiencing all of this one way, my daughter is doing the complete opposite. Morgan takes on life full speed ahead. She can run down any 4Th grade boy that she comes in contact with. When I try to help her with something that is heavy or just a little bit challenging she pushes me away. Morgan says "Mommy I can do it!" and proceeds to do it all on her own. So many wonderful qualities to take her far in this life. I love you my little firer cracker and thank you for showing me a side of life that I have never experienced before. Oh how I love being your Mommy.

Miss Morgan got to go the Friday before school started to meet her teacher and get acquainted with her classroom. We were quite amazed at the size of her new classroom. It's huge to say the least. Morgan's teacher went to school with Tom during his High School days. It does seem like yesterday that we were taking Aiden to Kindergarten. I remember the stress of trying to find him the perfect Kindergarten. He was on 5 different school waiting lists just in case he didn't get into this school. I must have been too diligent because he got into every single school I filled out paperwork with. You never know when you have to lottery into a school if your child will even get in. Our local public school that our kids are zoned to attend does not meet the high standards of education. Morgan started soccer in late August and is on the Bumble Bee team with 8 little blond girls. She was a bit nervous to play at first, but once there was running involved she was all over the idea. These photos where taken on the first day of practice. Morgan is the second smallest on her team, however the least afraid of going in and getting the ball. I have seen her take on 4 girls all by herself on game days. Morgan we are so proud of you and love watching you play soccer. You wear your #3 jersey with great pride!

Tom's parents went on an Alaskan cruise (with his sister Julie and her husband Jeff) to celebrate and enjoy their 50 Wedding Anniversary. They caught some fresh salmon on the trip and had it shipped to our house. What a nice surprise to get a box of fresh salmon sent right to our front door step. How blessed we are that Tom's parents have been married that long and what amazing role models they have been our both our lives.

The Larson family were here from Colorado in late July for a funeral for their Grandfather James Larson Senior. Tom grow up with his family and had the opportunity to work with Jim Senior at Caltrans. Tom read the bio of his life at the funeral. So very sad and so very sudden. Summer Part 1

The kids took 4 weeks of swim lessons this last summer and really excelled. Aiden learned several new techniques and became a really strong swimmer. He does really well with many of his strokes and loves jumping off the diving board. I am hoping he can try out for the swim team next summer. Morgan started out in the 3 to 5 year old class and we were told after the first class that she could move up to level one, since she was quite a little fish. She finished level 1 with ease and was moved up to level 2 at the end of 4 weeks. I am so thankful that my kids love the water and enjoy a favorite pass time here in Southern California.

Morgan had her first dance recital June 27th. She danced in two numbers. Can't Buy Me Love (ballet number) & We Stick Together (tumbling number). Tumbling seems to be her favorite and even busted out 3 cart wheels in a row. What fun to see our daughter up on stage having so much fun. We went to a few birthday parties in June. After looking at these photos and all the boys who we have know since Kindergarten, I see the look of pre-teens and how hard they play. Now I know why Morgan is such a risk taker and is afraid of nothing that comes her way. She has to keep up with her brother and his friends that are 4 years older then she is.

Isn't this the coolest cake that Jared's mom made all on her own. I wish I was that creative. Sorry Aiden you get the store bought ones.

Aiden is now a Cub Scout and you guessed it, Tom is the Cub Scout Leader. I have learned that when you send the husband to any first time meetings, he ends up not only saying yes, but takes on the leardership role. I was really shock because Tom does not like to over commit and thinks I put the kids in far to many activites. So from now on he gets to go to all the first time sign ups and I get to come along for the ride. I am blessed to have such a wonderful husband that loves being part of his kids lives.

Miss Morgan graduated from Pre-Kindergarten on 6/10/10. It was such a special day and very bitter sweet that this chapter in our lives has come to an end. Both kids have gone to preschool here and have grown into such amazing kids, just by coming to school here. My shy little ones have blossomed into confident, out going, social, well adjusted kids after leaving this program. This is one of the few places that I could leave Morgan and not not worry because I know she was loved, safe and having fun while I am at work. Aiden's school has just bought the property where Calvery Chapel Preschool is and both of my kids will be attending this campus in the fall. It will now be a K-8th grade school and no longer our little preschool. We look forward to seeing how this building transforms into an large school. I know many more fond memories will be made here.

We had a 5 year old Birthday Party for Morgan Memorial Weekend at the house with a jumpy and birthday cake. It was a beautiful day and it was fun to hang out with our friends & family for the afternoon. Thanks everyone for making Morgan birthday so fanstastic. Aiden was playing soccer at school and got hit by the ball on his right pinkie finger. The school called me at work and told me that Aiden was okay. The nurse didn't think his finger was broken, but we should still have it looked at by the Dr just to be sure. I asked her if I should come pick him up early, but the nurse assured me he was just fine. Later that night I asked Tom if we should take Aiden in to have it looked at. He didn't think so because Aiden was not in a ton of pain, so we left it alone for a couple days. While Morgan and I were at the zoo, I got a text from Tom that he was going to take Aiden in after all and see what the Dr says. Aiden told Tom that it just didn't feel right. Sure enough his pinkie had a chip fracture and a brake along the growth plate. Aiden is stuck wearing a cast for 3 weeks, but I think he is enjoying the attention of what a green cast can bring. We are very proud of Aiden for being so brave and hardly complaining about having a broken finger and wearing a cast. He is very excited about having it taken off this coming Wednesday.

We went camping down in Borrego Springs mid May. It was so nice to get away from life and just hang out by the pool, ride bikes, golf, fish, look at the most amazing stars at night and eat good food. Always nice to have our camping buddies along as well. Whats camping with out friends right?

Miss Morgan turned 5 year old on May 9th. We had a little family celebration at home and then headed down to cousin Kitsy's house to celebrate a family party. She was so proud to turn 5 year old and kept saying "I am 5 year old today and I get to do what ever I want". I had to remind her that she still needs to listen to Mommy and Daddy even though its her special day.

Here are a few photos from Easter day April, 2,2010. We went to church Sunday morning and then headed down to Mission Bay to relax and hang out by the water. It was a beautiful sunny day and got to a experience the longest earthquake I have every felt in my life. 7.2 magnitude quake centered just south of the U.S border near Mexicali was one of the strongest to hit the region in decades. We were sitting outside on the sand and got to feel the gentle rocking of the quake that lasted longer than a minute. Glad to be ok and not to have experienced and structural damage to our home.

Ready, Set, Go!

Fun, but a little intimidating at first.

We went to the Miramar Speed Circuit for our friend's birthday a couple of weeks ago. Tom and Aiden got to each ride a go kart and had lots of fun. It was Aiden's first time and he is hocked. He was a bit intimidated at first, but got more comfortable towards the end. I thought it was amazing how fast those cars really go and how intense people get while racing.

Disneyland & Park Day in Feburary

Waiting for the Aladdin show. Rya got us VIP seat, so we could see the show up close and personal. Ray went to High School with the guy who played Aladdin.

We went up for the day to Disneyland to celebrate Aiden's 9th birthday in February. It was very crowded, but we had a fun family day together. Morgan loves all the characters and both kiddos love to ride Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. We meet Paris, Hannah, Roger and Rya and spent some time playing and got to ride in the Lily Bell with them. The Lily Bell is towed by train around the park and you can only ride in it if you make reservations. This was clearly one of our highlights of our day. The Lilly Bell was designed by Disney himself for his wife Lilly. To bad my camera died.

My sister and my stinking cute nephew. Meredith could not get over the San Diego weather and keep saying how amazing it is to have 80 weather in the middle of winter. North Carolina was experiencing snow, while she was out here on a visit to San Diego.

My sister and nephew came to visit back in February from North Carolina. It was last July that we saw them last. Wow has Alexander grown! We got to babysit while Meredith went to a baby shower for a few hours. As you can tell in some of the photos Alexander didn't know quite what to think of us. His favorite word that day was "Ah Momma". It took him a few minutes to adjust to our house. I think his favorite person was Morgan because he kept going over and hugging her. One forgets how much work it is to have a toddler in the house again, especially with a kitchen remodel and pouring rain out side.

We went to the tide pools back in early February for a 3rd grade class project. Aiden had to pick a habitat and journal about his experience. Part of the project was to choose an animal and a plant life to study and learn about. It's funny how these projects turn into the parents project and the kids come along for the ride.

I was very happy with how great the photos turned out. The lighting was perfect and was so fun to just point and shoot. It was a great family outing and fun to spend time with our friends as well. I love the close cennection we have been able to form with so many people at Aiden's school.

We rang in the new year this year at our friends house. It was great fun! The adults played Bunco and a little poker. The kids ran around and played and really could have stayed up for hours past mid -night. Aiden wants to take tennis lessons and asked for tennis balls and a racket for Christmas. Now I just need to find a place that give lessons.

Silly Zhu Zhu hamsters that I waited until midnight to get my hands on. The things we do for our kiddos, even if they didn't even ask for one.

By far this is one of Aiden's favorite gifts. Tom and his friend Dale have just as much fun playing them as the boys do. We have found that they don't run out of batteries quickly and that you can link them up with several other Lazar guns at a time for Lazar battles. Made for many hours of entertainment. I of course love that you don't have a million darts all over the house.

What's Christmas with out a cute little kitty like this? Poor Morgan she has to settle for a fake one because Mommy really doesn't want to deal with any animals running around our house.

Aiden was so excited to get this gift. I don't let him watch Sponge Bob because I found it to be super annoying and it gets on my nerves as soon as I hear the song start up. Ugh! Hey but what are grandparents for? They buy all the cool stuff and send it home with the kids.

Morgan loves these little Pet shop animals. She literally can play by herself with them for hours. Morgan can even talk her brother into playing with them.

Seaworld at Christmas Time

My friend Mary and I meet at Sea World during Christmas time with the kids. They all had a great time and Aiden and Noah got to ride on a roller coaster all by themselves. The girls were just a little to small to go on it, so we gave the boys the rules and told them where to meet us once the ride was over. Let just say I was a nervous wreck inside and prayed that God would bring them back safely. I could just see myself explaining to Tom how I lost his son at Seaworld. Well I had nothing to worry about because both boys came back ready to take on more adventures.

Morgan enjoyed dance around the Christmas tree while the music played for the ice skaters, just above her. I love how Morgan loves life and is ready to dance at any given moment espically when she hears music.

Morgan was in her first dance program at the beginning of December. She and her class did a tap dance to Jingle Bell Rock. Morgan seemed to have fun dancing up on stage and liked having her friends Ellie and Cassie dancing right next to her. What a treat to watch my daughter enjoying something that I could not get enough of as a child.

I must admit with this whole kitchen remodel I was hoping to skip the whole Christmas Tree. Well the hubby and the kids were not having that. While I was at work they went and picked out the tree and got it all set up to decorate. Doesn't it look beautiful? As I get older I am learning to let go of having everything perfect in our house. It not easy because I like order and to know were everything. It really is the little things in life that matter, not what things appear to look like on the outside. My kids are going to remember moments in life and not what the house looked like at all times.

The Larson family came out from Colorado to celebrate their great grandmother's 90Th birthday the beginning of December. We got to eat dinner with them one night while they were visiting at Rubio's. They moved to Colorado 2.5 years ago, so its been that long since we have seen Kyle. We got to see the girls last summer, so it was not quit as surprising how much they have all grown, like their brother. Tom grow up with their father Jim and his brothers. Boy could Tom tell you stories about some of the adventures they did as kids.

Janessa and Aiden both have lost the same amount of teeth. They are two years apart, but seem to be on the same schedule for loosing teeth.
